Alumni

In the many years that ELSA Switzerland has existed, the legendary ELSA spirit has motivated and inspired thousands of law students on the local, national and international level to organize and take part in thousands of lectures, podium discussions, moot courts, seminars, conferences and other projects as a complement to their law studies.

For many of them, ELSA played an important role in their lives that they don’t want to miss out on after their studies end. That’s why ELSA created a network for former members that they can participate in and use to help current members with their activities. We love it when former members are willing to use their experience to support our active members!

ELSA Alumni Switzerland

…life goes on –

even after university…

Former ELSA board members keep in touch after the end of their studies. As a loose organization, the ELSA Alumni from all of our local groups stand by to help current ELSA members. Alumni also keep in touch among themselves: they organize an aperitif or a dinner or go to the general assembly of an ELSA local group or ELSA Switzerland together. Or, as another example, current ELSA members in Zurich run together with the alumni at the SOLA relay race each year. It’s all done through a simple address list, which is available to all alumni and current board members for ELSA events.

… as you can see – we keep in touch!

Best wishes,

Hans Schibli (ELSA Schweiz Alumni Koordinator)

ELSA Lawyers Society (ELS)

(Text provided by ELS, can be found on their homepage: http://www.elslawyer.org/.)

Founded in 1991, ELS - The ELSA Lawyers Society is the international alumni association of ELSA - The European Law Students' Association. ELSA was founded in 1981 by the five men on the picture above (not holding the globe), who are now honorary members of ELS.

ELS offers its currently almost 600 members a natural continuation of ELSA upon graduation, but tailored to "postgraduate" interests, time constraints and budget. The aims of ELS were expressed in the Statutes as follows:

RECALLING that the aim of ELS is to bring together lawyers and other members all over Europe who have been part of or who have supported the ELSA network and structure or who wish to do so now and in the future; to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to create and maintain personal contacts amongst lawyers in Europe.

Our activities

ELS does a number of things to realise its aims:

  • We maintain an online Directory, with and for all members, including their personal and professional information;

  • ELS members can participate at ELS and ELSA meetings and activities throughout the year;

  • Regular updates on ELS, ELSA and our members are provided through our website, newsletter and mailing-list;

ELS supports ELSA, financially and in-kind. Financial assistance includes the ELS Scholarships, as well as other ad hoc purposes. In-kind support can vary, from helping ELSA find sponsors, lecturers and trainers, or giving professional advice and expertise.
